Wales Coast Path Near Rhoose Diverted Following Cliff Fall ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

ale of Glamorgan Council officers visited the site on Wednesday morning after being notified that a cliff fall had occurred overnight. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Having been deemed dangerous on investigation, the path was closed, with a temporary diversion through Rhoose subsequently being set up. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Undercutting and further loose material within the cliff line was observed from the foreshore and fissures found in the path’s surface itself, suggesting the coast path to be unstable following the fall. Fencing has been erected at both ends of the closed path, with visitors to the area being diverted through the nearby village of Rhoose. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

A spokesperson for the Vale of Glamorgan Council, said: “Thanks to the actions of our officers we have been able to close off this hazardous path swiftly. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“We advise all visitors to the Wales Coast Path, and this area in particular, to take care when walking the path, and to remain on sign-posted diversions at all times.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
