Vale Council Crowned Team Of The Year At Local Government Awards
The Vale of Glamorgan Council has won one of the most prestigious local government awards in the UK.
The team behind the Council’s innovative Leadership Café scheme was crowned ‘Team of the Year’ at the Local Government Chronicle awards in London, the ceremony which recognises the very best of local government in the UK.
Rob Thomas, Managing Director said: “This is absolutely fantastic news and a very proud moment for the Council. The Leadership Café has previously been recognised as good practice by the Wales Audit Office and has rightly now received further praise.
“It is not, however, just this group of colleagues that are setting new standards for achievement in the Vale. Teams throughout the organisation are working harder than ever to improve the services that we deliver for the Vale and all
colleagues should be proud of this recognition.”
The Leadership Café project helps staff working at all levels of the Council develop the skills they need to work more productively and develop as professionals. All of those who take part do so in their own time after working hours.
The Vale of Glamorgan Council was one of only nineteen winners from over 600 entries for the prestigious awards from local authorities across the United Kingdom.
The award was in recognition of the hard work and commitment of the management team that have been co-ordinating the initiative since 2015. The team is made up of colleagues working across the Council.
