Trump, Globalisation And Free-Trade
Lord Hain of Neath will reflect on the recent US presidential election, the inauguration of Donald Trump, and tackling what Trumpenomics will mean for the world, during a lecture at the University of South Wales (USW) next month.
President Trump has made clear he will tear up trade agreements which he sees as compromising American interests.
Mr Hain will address the questions of how the new President will balance commitments to lowering barriers to trade with the promises he made on the road to the presidency to ‘make America great again’?
Lord Hain is one of the UK’s best known political figures. He represented the constituency of Neath for more than 20 years as an MP, and served in various government roles, including Secretary of State for Wales. More recently, he has taken up a seat in the House of Lords as a life peer.
He is currently a Visiting Professor in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at USW, and this is the latest in a series of lectures he has delivered on international affairs.
The lecture is being held on Thursday, February 2 at 1pm at USW’s Pontypridd Campus.
It is open to members of the public, as well as school and college groups. The lecture is part of the Global Choices: Talking Points series.
