RTC Newport Road, Rumney – Renewed Appeal For Witnesses
The partner of a man critically injured in a road traffic collision in Cardiff has appealed for witnesses to come forward.
Cyclist John Coles was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries following the collision with a van on Newport Road in Rumney, at approximately 7.50am on Thursday, January 12th. The 26-year-old remains in a critical but stable condition.
His partner, Emily Thomas, has urged anyone with information who has not yet spoken to police, to get in touch.
Miss Thomas said: “John was travelling into Peacocks head office where he worked, following the same route he takes on his bike every day, when the accident happened.
“He is a devoted dad who works very hard to support us as a family.
“The night before the accident, our son Rory took his first steps and he was so proud. He was also really excited for our boy’s first birthday next month.
“The whole family is devastated and we would ask anyone who was around at the time to please help the police with their enquiries by coming forward with any information they have, no matter how small it may seem.”
Investigating officer, Sergeant Chris Grey, added: “The collision has had a huge impact on Mr Coles and his family, and we would urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information which may assist the investigation, to get in touch.”
