New Crossing Facilities For Church Village Completed!
A new pedestrian crossing facility has now been successfully installed along the B4595 (/Main Road at its junction with Station Road /St Illtyds Road, Church Village.)
The £100,000 works formed part of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s multi-million-pound (£23m) Highways, Transportation, Infrastructures and Strategic Projects (HTISP) Investment Programme.
The existing pelican crossing on Main Road (east of Fagins) has now been removed and replaced by new pedestrian phased traffic signals on all 4 arms of the existing traffic signal controlled junction of Main Road, Station Road, and St Illtyds Road. In addition to the new traffic signals, the associated dropped kerbs have been upgraded and replaced and tactile paving has been installed.
Leader of Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council, Councillor Andrew Morgan, who is also Cabinet Member for Highways, said:
“The Council and its Cabinet has recognised the concerns expressed by the public and the importance of investing in our key priorities, that is why we have allocated £200m over the next three years to improve areas such as Leisure and Outdoor Leisure Facilities, Play Areas, Highways and Structures, Transport Infrastructure, Flood Alleviation, Schools, Recycling Facilities, Housing and Town and Village Centres.
“The latest completed scheme in Church Village, demonstrate the Council’s continued commitment to investing in the infrastructure across the County Borough – with both big and small jobs being undertaken to enhance the safety and infrastructure of our County Borough’s highways.”
