Victoria Park’s Splashpad has had a bumper inaugural summer season. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Figures show that that since the Splashpad opened in June it attracted an average of 5,950 visits each week compared with a weekly average of just over 470 children using the paddling pool it replaced. The estimated total for the Splashpad’s first season is 71,400 which compares with an average of 8,000 visitors each summer using the paddling pool. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Cabinet Member for the Environment, Cllr Bob Derbyshire said: “We always knew that a facility like this would be hugely popular with children. That was one of the main reasons for upgrading the paddling pool in the first place. However, the sheer scale of the Splashpad’s popularity during its first summer season has surpassed our wildest expectations. It has been a massive success story and I am sure that I speak for all of the Splashpad’s patrons when I say that I can’t wait for it to reopen next May.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The Splashpad has 33 exciting features for children across three zones designed for toddlers, juniors and families. It has also been specifically designed to increase accessibility. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
