With October half term nearing, are you wondering what to do with the children? Don’t worry Caerphilly parks and tourism venues have it covered. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

On Wednesday 26 October, Dark Skies Wales visits Cwmcarn Forest for an interactive Robot making workshop. Children aged 10 and above have the chance to build their own moving robot to transport around the forest. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Four sessions will be made available from 10am, costing £8.50 per child. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

For the younger ones, Blackwood Miners’ Institute will be hosting The Owl and The Pussycat’s Treasury of Nonsense at 11am and 2pm on Wednesday 26 October. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Suitable for children aged 3 and over, the show sees the Owl trying to write his greatest masterpiece but the Pussycat has different ideas. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

This fun and fabulous family show is a feast for the eyes, ears and imagination. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The 2pm performance will be a relaxed showing specifically designed for children and young people with learning disabilities and sensory and communication disorders as well as their families. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Tickets costs £3.50 per child and £4.50 per adult with £14 for a family ticket. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Or, do your children enjoy the great outdoors? Why not bring them along to Parc Cwm Darran on Wednesday 26 October, where they can learn how to build a campfire, toast marshmallows and enjoy a warm mug of hot chocolate. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The event will begin at 11am with booking required. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Halloween is just around the corner and Parc Cwm Darran is already getting in the spirit with a workshop on how to make a besom broomstick, perfect for a witch. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The event will begin at 10am on Thursday 27 October, costing £7 which includes materials. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Bring your torch and scour Parc Cwm Darran for the creatures that come alive at night. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

On Friday 28 October, adults and children are invited to learn about the wildlife that lives amongst the park. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Tickets cost £3 per person and will commence at 4pm for arts and crafts, followed by a bat talk and finishing with the walk around Parc Cwm Darran. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
