Pentraeth Half-Term Project A Big Success
Youths in Pentraeth were kept busy this half-term period with a diversionary project that was organised by PCSO Carwyn Gilford of the Anglesey Safer Neighbourhood Team. Diversionary activities included a self-defence session held by Zanshin Karate Cymru, a sports development session held by Mon Actif and an input on alcohol abuse, underage smoking and on-line safety and CSE held by Einir Morris-Jones of the Isle of Anglesey County Council and PCSO Danni Power from North Wales Police respectively.
The project followed on from a highly successful Community Pride project held in Pentraeth during the summer holidays last year. Both projects were financially supported by the High Sheriff’s ‘Crimebeat’ fund and helped to teach the youths some skills such as trust, teamwork and self-discipline.
PCSO Gilford stated “I am extremely proud of all the youths that have signed up to the project and took part on the various activities”.
PCSO Gilford added “I feel involvement of the kind is important as it helps the youths to engage with different sections of the community and by so doing generate and support a mutual respect and understanding, which will hopefully continue once the project has ended.”
