Shining A Light On Local Talent At Festival Number Six

Six young musicians are to have an unforgettable experience of performing in a local well-known festival through an innovative project run by CEG (Cerddoriaeth Eryri a’r Gogledd, Music of Snowdonia and North Wales) with the support of Gwynedd Council, which is ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The Yn y Golau (In the Light) project gives an opportunity for the artists to perform on the ‘The Woodcutters Lodge’ stage at Festival Number 6 in Portmeirion between 1 and 4 September 2016. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Gwynedd Council’s Leader, Councillor Dyfed Edwards , said: “This is an innovative project that we as a Council are proud to support. The backing that these young artists receive, will be extremely valuable as they develop and performing at Festival Number 6 will be an unforgettable experience for all of them. I wish them every success at the Festival as well as in their careers in the future.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The “Yn y Golau” project was created to support musicians that study in Gwynedd to take the first step in their musical careers. “Yn y Golau” gives the artists an opportunity at Festival Number 6 as well as offering support through mentoring to build their confidence and ability to develop a network with talented young musicians in Gwynedd. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

For the “Yn y Golau” project, CEG has identified six young individuals who will work tirelessly to create unique music. The individuals that will take part at a launch that will take place at CEG’s stage in the woods at Festival Number 6, includes: Alex Woodall (Coleg Menai), Phoebe Newman-Walker (Coleg Menai) Magi Tudur (Llanrug) Kiani Geldard (Bangor) Gethin Llwyd (Bangor) and Hannah Wilwood (Llanberis). ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

CEG was established by Sera Louise Owen (Caernarfon) and Roger Hughes (Bangor) to support and promote local musical artists. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
