Denbigh businesses have got all creative in their efforts to promote the forthcoming Tour of Britain. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

17 businesses in the town have taken part in a shop window dressing competition, arranged by Denbighshire County Council’s Economic and Business Development team. Others have simply joined in the fun. Many more businesses and organisations joined in the fun and entered into the spirit of the event by dressing their windows. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The aim of the competition was to encourage business owners to show their support to the Tour when it visits Denbigh on Wednesday, 7 September and to attract the attention of visitors and shoppers to the town. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Councillor Hugh Evans OBE, Leader of Denbighshire County Council, who is also Cabinet Lead Member for the Economy, said: “The competition has been a great way of raising the profile of the Tour of Britain and starting a great build up for the 7th of September when we expect the crowds to line the streets in support of cyclists. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“The Tour of Britain is a prestigious event and Denbighshire has worked closely with event organisers and supported by other councils across North Wales to bring this event back to our region. It’s a great opportunity to showcase Denbighshire to a world-wide audience, and raises the profile of North Wales as a great place to host major events. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“The excitement is building and we look forward to welcoming some of the largest names in the cycling industry to Denbighshire.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Councillor Margaret Bowe, Mayor of Denbigh, said: “I’m delighted that the town of Denbigh has embraced this competition. The response has been amazing and I’m delighted at the creativity shown and so much fun has gone into preparing these entries. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“Businesses in Denbigh are indeed creative and talented and this is a great platform for businesses to promote themselves and each other. Denbigh Town Council has been delighted to be involved in this initiative”. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The winners of the competition will be chosen and announced next week. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
